5 tips for beginners in skin care

A few of my friends lead me to believe I do know a little about “lifestyle” related things. So while I gracefully accept this, I do realise I’m no expert myself. That said, I think I do have my two cents(or more) to offer on skin care. I’ll keep it crisp- here it goes, a few habits you really must follow in skin care:

1. Don’t keep changing regimes.
Stick to one atleast for a good 3 months. A lot of people expect dramatic results in few weeks time. Nah!! Not happening.

2. Keep it moisturised
No matter what kind of skin you have-ALWAYS ALWAYS keep it very well moisturised. Nothing looks worse than dehydrated skin (YESS!! even ACNE ridden skin looks better).

3. Go DIY
It’s difficult we know it. It’s time consuming we know. But it’s really worth it. Having had lovely skin for 20 odd years and then dealing with atrocious skin and using all possible techniques to help it for another 5 years, please trust-grandma was right! Once a week –half an hour, that’s like 0.3% of your week’s time. So much for looking pleasant.

4. Don’t fiddle
DON’T! Just DON’T fiddle with your skin. Don’t go all “blackhead remover” on it, don’t alternate products every day, and do not experiment in impatience. Relax! If it didn’t happen in a jiffy, it won’t go away in a jiffy. I’ve done all this, and MUCH more-and it doesn’t help.

5. Don’t hesitate to visit a dermat.
The point of a dermat is not only professional advice on skin. It’s actually peace of mind. The Faith you place in a dermat gets you the patience, and the confidence. It’s an expensive proposition, HELL YES! But if it gives you the confidence, go for it. And give it time. Dermat is a 6-8 month long and expensive process. But it’ll sort you for a good amount of time.
